2019 Junkers’ Choice Award Winners

2019junkerschoiceb

With the Oscar nominations set to be announced tomorrow morning, it seems only appropriate that we finally reveal the winners of the 2019 Junkers’ Choice Awards as well! It’s cool to see what the Film Junk community is into every year and how that compares to the rest of the world. Where else will you see a Harmony Korine movie get more votes than a Taika Waititi film and Uncut Gems generating more hype than a new Star Wars movie? That being said, the winners in some categories will surprise absolutely no one (Best Action and Best Foreign Language Film could be two of the most lopsided votes we’ve ever had). Meanwhile the overall battle between Parasite, The Irishman and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is shaping up to be one for the ages. Check out the results of this year’s vote after the jump and let us know what you think.

I guess I have to watch Parasite.

The Film Junk fan community is so cool. Where else will you find those who champion art house films above Star Wars? Very rare these days.

If someone’s going to win by a landslide that’s going to be John Wick. Wow. Not a terribly great year for action considering the alternatives. I voted for Hobbs & Shaw, the chemistry between The Rock, Statham and Kirby goes a long way. That last third is a bit of a wet noodle but the movie is a lot of fun otherwise.

I know you’re being facetious but I actually did think Star Wars would have been the obvious winner there even despite The Last Jedi backlash.

  • Ben Bueno

I’m waiting for the home release of about 15 movies so I can’t really say if this year was good or not, but from what I’ve seen it was pretty dull. Films of interest that aren’t included:
The Nightingale, Her Smell, The Art Of Self Defense, Monos, Climax

  • Amazingly, I’m actually ok with all of these. I’d like to see more love for Tarantino, but these pics are actually pretty much correct.

Beam Bum voted best comedy??? *facepalm*
