Although A24 has distributed a lot of different kinds of movies over the past few years, when you see their name attached to a horror movie it now brings with it a certain type of expectation. Indeed, the first trailer for the upcoming movie Saint Maud proclaims that it is from the studio that brought you The Witch, Hereditary and Midsommar and it does seem to be continuing in that tradition of unsettling, art house horror. The movie revolves around a hospice nurse (Morfydd Clark) who becomes obsessed with saving the soul of a troubled patient (Jennifer Ehle) but finds herself losing her grip on sanity as she tries to atone for her own past sins. This is the directorial debut of British filmmaker Rose Glass and it seems like it could be the introduction of another unique voice within the genre.
