After a notable absence at the San Diego Comic-Con earlier this past summer, Warner Brothers finally kicked off the marketing campaign for Wonder Woman 1984 over the weekend, releasing the first trailer for the sequel at Brazil’s CCXP. The trailer embraces the ’80s time period with some bright colours and fashion choices not to mention a remix of New Order’s “Blue Monday”, but all anyone wants to talk about is Wonder Woman using her lasso to literally swing from lightning. We also get our first look at Kristen Wiig as classic Wonder Woman villain Cheetah and, although this surprise was spoiled a long time ago, Chris Pine returns as Steve Trevor. We still don’t know exactly how he is back, but it may have something to do with the movie’s other villain: Pedro Pascal as sleazy businessman Max Lord. Wonder Woman 1984 is once again directed by Patty Jenkins and it hits theatres on June 5th, 2020. Check out the first trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
