The point is not to say I’m a fanboy of Cats. I have ever seen the musical. I only say that I appreciate the weirdness of the trailers and don’t have an issue with them. I have seen stranger things (and by that I don’t mean Stranger Things). I just feel that so much of the stuff that comes out now is so… safe. At least someone’s taking a chance here. It’s not original material, but the presentation is bonkers, and i like it. I guess we’ll see the proof in the pudding when the movie comes out, and I might have to eat my whiskers.

The Greatest Showman had the same date in 2017 when it was also going up against Star Wars. It ended up doing OK but not nearly what the studio was hoping for and it didn’t have the negative buzz going into it like Cats does.

I guess we’ll know for sure soon enough. One thing is for sure already though, and that’s Cat version Judi Dench will haunt me for years to come lol.
