Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island Trailer

After all the success that Blumhouse has had with their original properties, they are now being courted by studios to dust off some pre-existing properties and reinvent them in interesting new ways. Last week we saw the first trailer for Blumhouse’s new version of The Invisible Man directed by Leigh Whannell and now this week we have the first trailer for Blumhouse’s big screen adaptation of the late ’70s / early ’80s TV series Fantasy Island. Michael Pena takes on the role of Mr. Roarke, the owner of a tropical island where people pay to live out their wildest fantasies, only to find that their fantasies aren’t quite what they expected. With a cast that also includes Maggie Q, Portia Doubleday, Kim Coates, Lucy Hale, Michael Rooker and Jimmy O. Yang, the movie seems to have a much darker, horror-oriented tone than the TV series did (which I guess shouldn’t be a surprise, coming from Blumhouse). Fantasy Island is directed by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2, Truth or Dare) and it hits theatres on Valentine’s Day; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
