Neil Patrick Harris Joins The Matrix 4, Jada Pinkett Smith Also in Talks to Return

After last week’s addition of Aquaman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, The Matrix 4 is continuing to move full steam ahead with casting as two more actors are now in the process of being added to the roster. The first is an unexpected one as Neil Patrick Harris has reportedly landed a role in the upcoming sci-fi sequel. Joining him will be Jada Pinkett Smith, who is no stranger to the franchise having previously appeared in the The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions and the Enter the Matrix video game as well. Hit the jump for more details.

According to Deadline, Jada Pinkett Smith is in talks to join the cast of the as-of-yet untitled fourth Matrix movie. She will reprise her role as Niobe, the pilot and captain of the Logos hovercraft and a key member of the Resistance. She most recently appeared in Angel Has Fallen and Girls Trip and had a recurring role on the Gotham TV series as Fish Mooney.

As for NPH, Variety first reported on the news of his involvement. His role is being kept under wraps although for some reason the first thing that comes to mind is a younger version of The Architect. On the other hand, we keep hearing that a young Morpheus is in the movie and this would be a pretty outside the box choice for that character too. Either way, The Matrix is something pretty different for Neil Patrick Harris, who is best known for his comedic roles on How I Met Your Mother and, more recently, the A Series of Unfortunate Events TV series on Netflix. If Harris plays an agent – I’m in. Definitely up voting Jada.

  • I think he’s more likely to play a programme like the Merowinger.
