Disney’s Jungle Cruise Trailer Starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt

With the Pirates of the Caribbean series seemingly on its last legs, Disney is now turning to another classic theme park attraction to launch a new live-action movie franchise. Jungle Cruise is one of the original Disneyland attractions and remains popular today, known for its dated story and corny sense of humour. The original ride was inspired by movies like The African Queen, but now director Jaume Collet-Serra (The Shallows, Non-Stop) is bringing it back to the big screen and updating it for modern audiences. Dwayne Johnson plays a riverboat captain while Emily Blunt is an explorer who enlists his help. There is definitely a bit of a Romancing the Stone vibe here, but mostly it fits the tone of your typical lighthearted, family-friendly Disney blockbuster. Jungle Cruise hits theatres on July 23rd; check out the trailer below and see what you think.

Damn, I was hoping Space Mountain was next. But this still looks fun though (by my reckoning there’s only about 3 rides left that haven’t been turned into movies or haven’t been turned into movie themed rides).

the rock’s character is called frank? oh the irony …

Typical middle of the road family fun but Emily Blunt and The Rock make it seem like fun! Definitely a RTS vibe but the movie etches out its own it’s own middle of the road story.

Sorry, Emily Blunt is no Rachel Weisz. I’ll take the clumsy heroine from The Mummy series over this.
