Film Junk is Now on Patreon!

Many of you have been asking about this for quite a while now, but this week we are excited to announce that (surprise!) Film Junk has officially joined Patreon. For those who are unaware, Patreon is a site that allows fans to support independent creators directly in exchange for various perks and rewards. After giving it a lot of thought, we decided to take the plunge and came up with a plan that will help offset some of the general operating costs of the podcast (hosting fees, movie tickets, and yes, gas money) while also offering some decent extra value to our most dedicated listeners. We know that a lot of you out there want to help support the show but we haven’t really given you a lot of ways to do that. This will hopefully fix that.
As many of you know, we have been doing the podcast ad-free for over 14 years now and with the exception of the premium podcasts (which are a lot of additional work) and the recent episode 700 “telethon” (which was primarily used to upgrade our equipment), we have not been generating any income from this show. We don’t like advertising and we don’t like asking for money and we aren’t very good at it anyway. The cool thing about Patreon is that it gives us a new outlet to experiment with and share new kinds of content that maybe the casual Film Junk listener wouldn’t be interested in anyway. We feel that it is a worthwhile proposition and we hope that you feel the same way.
Premium podcasts will continue and will still be sold separately through Bandcamp for the time being. New tiers and stretch goals will likely be added down the road as we figure it out. We do not plan to change the regular weekly podcast in any way. It will always be free and it will continue to be recorded every week. This is something that we hope will grow and evolve with your help so we welcome your feedback and suggestions. For the full rundown, check out our Patreon page now and if you like what you see, spread the word! Thanks for keeping us going after all these years.
