2019 Emmy Winners

In the age of peak TV, it kind of feels like people are a lot more invested in the Emmys than they are the Oscars. To be fair, I guess it’s a little more exciting when you’ve actually seen the things being nominated. This year found the final season of Game of Thrones getting some love but maybe not as much as expected (the show had 14 nominations but won only 2) and the final season of Veep getting totally snubbed. But that was in favour of Fleabag winning in a bunch of the comedy categories, which is fine by me. HBO’s Chernobyl took home a lot of the Limited Series awards while Black Mirror: Bandersnatch somehow won Oustanding TV Movie. What did you think of this year’s Emmys? Jason Bateman wining for directing Ozark was pretty awesome. I like the guy and the series, but his reaction was what made it awesome. I can’t remember the last time any awards show had the camera on a person who looked that genuinely shocked that they won. I’d assume he was counting one of the Game of Thrones directors to get it.

Very happy to see Fleabag get the recognition it deserves. Definitely the best to come out of TV this year.
