Watch Jurassic World Short Film Battle at Big Rock Online Now

After sitting out Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Colin Trevorrow will be back in the director’s chair for the upcoming Jurassic World 3 and to help warm up for that next installment he decided to direct a short film that takes place after Fallen Kingdom. Battle at Big Rock is an eight-minute short film that takes us into a world where dinosaurs have escaped captivity and are now living in the wild. It premiered on FX last night and is now available to watch for free on YouTube. Featuring a cast that includes AndrĂ© Holland and Natalie Martinez, it certainly showcases more destruction and special effects than you might expect for something this small. The short is co-written by Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim: Uprising) who is also co-writing the next movie, although it is unclear is any of these characters will return. Check out Battle at Big Rock right now after the jump and let us know what you think.

I was hoping the dinosaur would eat that annoying family. :(

I enjoyed the short vignette scenes interspersed among the end credits more than the actual short itself. Worst parents of the year award. Hush your baby!

Was that neighbour dude who owns the crossbow just hiding in his RV the entire time?? Everyone appears to be gone except the family when the dinos show up, but you can see him slowly slip back out of an RV as the camera pulls back at the end of the short. Guess he had an “every man for themselves” mentality lol.

I agree let the Dino’s wreak havoc off island! I’d like to see some ‘don’t harm the dinosaurs’ protesters getting munched on while they hold signs and rally.

This short film was better than the last two Jurassic World movies combined. I smell oscar for ‘best short flim’.

CG strangely weightless and effects still lack the heft and permanence of practical appliances in the original. One of the major successes in the 1993 execution was the emphasis on how the dinos interacted with objects and the people they encountered. Hair was blown and their clothes dishevelled by coming into contact with them whereas this short feels hermetically sealed and the family excruciatingly representative.

That is not saying much and I’d get your olfactory organ checked mate.

That was kinda my point – not even remotely a fan of the previous JWorld movies.
