63 Up Trailer

63up

Michael Apted’s Up series is a landmark work of non-fiction filmmaking that continues this year with its ninth installment, 63 Up. For the uninitiated, this is a documentary series that has followed the lives of fourteen British children since 1964 at the age of 7, checking in with them at seven year intervals (like a real-life Boyhood). The latest chapter was released earlier this year as a three-part TV series on ITV in the UK but Britbox is now bringing it to North American theatres (and later, I assume, their streaming service). This one finds the subjects in their 60s, grappling with Brexit, happiness and their mortality (among other things). 63 Up hits select theatres on Nov. 27th; check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.

Been interested in these for ages. Might have to finally buy the DVDs.

  • Another great installment of the series, very thoughtful about mortality (less about Brexit). Hopefully they’ll conclude the whole thing with 70 Up but if this was the final installment it bowes out beautifully.
