Memory: The Origins of Alien Trailer

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Ridley Scott’s Alien, the movie is heading back to theatres for select screenings this fall. Coinciding with that, there is also a brand new documentary about the making of this sci-fi horror classic coming to theatres and VOD. Memory: The Origins of Alien is directed by Alexandre O. Philippe, who also did 78/52, the documentary about the Psycho shower scene. Featuring interviews with Veronica Cartwright, Tom Skerritt, Ronald Shusett, Roger Corman and Roger Christian (among others), the movie also delves into the personal archives of Dan O’Bannon and H.R. Giger and reconsiders the movie in the context of when it was made. Whether the movie is aimed at casual viewers or more hardcore fans, however, remains to be seen. Memory: The Origins of Aliens hits select theatres and VOD on Oct. 4th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.

Hard to tell from the trailer, but unless it offers some unique perspective (like 78/52 did) than it’s mostly for the casual viewer. The Alien Quadrology set already includes a three-hour exhaustive documentary on the making of the film, and if you’re a fan you’ve probably already seen it.
