Shinichiro Ueda’s meta zombie comedy One Cut of the Dead has already become a smash hit in Japan and has been earning rave reviews on the festival circuit. Back in January, it seemed like it had also arrived on Amazon Prime in the U.S. and UK, but that turned out to be a bootleg version of the movie that had somehow made it onto the streaming service illegally. Now almost a year after it started playing festivals, the movie is finally getting a U.S. theatrical release followed by an authorized streaming release on Shudder. They have dropped a trailer for the film as well, although it comes with a suggestion that the best way to see the movie is without any prior knowledge at all. One Cut of the Dead hits theatres in New York and L.A. on Sept. 13th and will have more one night only screenings across the U.S. on Sept. 17th. The Shudder release date is still TBA. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
