Joker Final Trailer

Less than a week before its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival (followed by a North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival), Warner Brothers have released one final trailer for their upcoming movie Joker. Directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover) and set in 1981 Gotham City, this is a standalone origin story for Batman’s most well-known and arguably most dangerous villain. Although many fans have questioned the wisdom of making a Joker movie without Batman, Joaquin Phoenix’s performance looks to make this an unpredictable and uncomfortable watch. Either way, it certainly looks very different from most other recent comic book movies we’ve seen and it could prove to be a rare critical success for DC even if it is technically outside of the DC Extended Universe. Joker hits theatres on Oct. 4th; check out the latest trailer below and let us know what you think.

Film will probably be amazing, but the trailer is so overt that I find it off-putting.

The laugh is bothering me, maybe it’s supposed to. It’s forced and unsettling. This one looks good for a large popcorn, big box of peanut M&Ms and a cold pop. Can’t wait!

I know it is supposed to be stand alone but I’m still thinking Phoenix might show up in the Matt Reeves Batman trilogy at some point. Last I heard they were going to set that in the early 90s so it kind of syncs up with the timeline of this film.

    The REAL fake doors!

My most anticipated comic book movie of the last decade, an R-rated Joker movie? Yes please. The MCU is completely creatively bankrupt, yet the mouth-breathers just keep delivering barrels of money to Disney.

Who will have the better tighty whities scene.. Phoenix in Joker or Nic Cage in Mandy?
