Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker D23 Trailer

Well if you were wondering why there was no new trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker amidst all of the other big announcements at D23, apparently Disney was saving the best for last. Today they have unveiled a brand new “Special Look” for the upcoming movie, amd although it doesn’t show very much new footage, it does reveal a some very cool shots from an epic battle between Rey and Kylo Ren. That being said, the majority of the trailer repurposes old scenes from previous Star Wars films, which should be perfect fodder for some tear-filled reaction vids. It will be interesting to see if Disney and Lucasfilm follow the Avengers: Endgame-style “less is more” approach to marketing for this final entry in the Skywalker Saga. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theatres on Dec. 20th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.

I cannot wait for the FJ review of this. I’m looking forward to the review more than the film! Please make it a multi-guest event: Reed, the Drunk Uncles, Scott and Singh. I bet Dax 6/5s it.

I can totally get why Disney & Lucasfilm want to keep the plot to this completely mysterious but I do wish there were some open story threads I knew about. I’m old enough to remember the wait between Empire and Return of the Jedi and knowing that there were certain things that were definitely going to be resolved: Han was frozen, Luke had found out his Dad was an asshole, there was romance between the princess and the scoundrel and that Emperor dude was still alive! Going into Rise of Skywalker I can’t really think of anything I’m hanging out to have answered? Is that just me?

There isn’t anything open except the conflict between Ray and Kylo
Ren. For a middle chapter, The Last Jedi wrapped things up pretty nicely, and you can view it as a positive or negative. The only reason the final film is garnering any excitement is because it’s still Star Wars, but I can’t think of any story elements that people are anxious to see resolved.
