If you are a fan of the year 1989 and specifically the trio of underwater sci-fi horror movies that were released that year (The Abyss, Leviathan and DeepStar Six), then you might be interested in the next movie from director William Eubank (The Signal). The movie revolves around a crew of underwater researchers who find themselves in over their head after their underwater laboratory awakens something at the bottom of the ocean. The movie has a slightly mismatched cast that includes Kristen Stewart, Vincent Cassel, T.J. Miller, Jessica Henwick and John Gallagher Jr. and a January release date that doesn’t necessarily scream confidence. Still, it’s been a while since we’ve seen a full-blown entry in this genre and I am more than willing to give it a shot.
