The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Trailer #2

darkcrystaltrailer2

With the release of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance just a couple of weeks away, Netflix has dropped a brand new trailer for the upcoming series, which serves as a prequel to Jim Henson’s cult classic 1982 film. If I had any misgivings about the new CG / puppet hybrid approach, this trailer has squashed them completely because it looks fantastic. They also seem to be selling this as something even more epic and action-packed than the original, underscored by a pulsating new score from Daniel Pemberton and Samuel Sim (sadly, original composer Trevor Jones will not be involved). Will this series deliver on the potential of this trailer, and more importantly, will it actually find an audience? The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is directed by Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me, The Incredible Hulk) and it arrives on Netflix on Aug. 30th; check out the new trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

“Will this series deliver on the potential of this trailer?”

    The answer is yes.

I had an opportunity to have an early peek at the series and it’s extraordinary. It is absolutely top notch from top to bottom.
Who knew this would come from the director of Clash of the Titans and The Brothers Grimsby… the second filmmaker to surprise me in such a way this year after Craig Mazin who went from Superhero Movie to Chernobyl…

Looks great. Anyone else pickup a slight Stranger Things score vibe?
