When Honey Boy premiered at Sundance back in January, many thought it would be little more than a Shia LaBeouf vanity project, but it ended up earning rave reviews and a $5 million deal with Amazon. Now this week Amazon has released the first trailer for the upcoming film, which LaBeouf wrote based on his own life growing up as a child actor and dealing with an abusive father. Lucas Hedges (Manchester by the Sea) plays the young actor while LaBeouf himself plays his father. Helmed by Israeli-American music video and documentary director Alma Har’el, the movie could prove to be the start of an interesting new chapter in LaBeouf’s career. Honey Boy hits select theatres on Nov. 8th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
