Zombieland: Double Tap Trailer

Ruben Fleischer’s Zombieland hit theatres back in 2009 and went on to become a surprise hit, capitalizing on the sudden mainstream popularity of zombies and some inspired casting choices. Now ten years later, the sequel will be released in a post-Walking Dead world where the novelty of the living dead may be temporarily wearing off… so is that why there are barely any zombies in the trailer? Still, it’s kind of impressive that they have managed to reteam the same director and writers along with the original cast (yes, that legendary cameo is also apparently back as well and may have even brought a friend). The plot finds Tallahassee, Columbus, Little Rock and Wichita crossing paths with some new kinds of zombies as well as some fellow survivors played by Zoey Deutch, Rosario Dawson, Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch. The self-aware humour and slow-mo action are still intact but could this sequel be arriving just a little too late? Zombieland: Double Tap hits theatres on Oct. 18th; check out the first trailer after the jump and see what you think.

  • So the cast of four white people gets new “fellow survivors”, three out of four of which are also white. Geez Louise. Do you really need Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch? It’s not like they are that different regarding their acting. Why not throw someone like William Jackson Harper in there or Awkwafina?

I recall the cameo being a big secret from the original, so I’m really surprised they aren’t hiding the new one. It’s been openly talked about and is even on the imdb page. So strange, would have been cool to see that without knowing, but even then it just seems like the bit is a rehash of the first one.

Because they are supposed to be doubles of the existing cast – that’s the joke. As talented as Awkwafina is I don’t think she can pull off Woody Harrelson or vice-versa.

  • Rosario Dawson doesn’t really look like Emma Stone. Luke Wilson also is certainly not Woody Harrelson’s twin. They could still be their doubles without having to be Caucasian. A little diversity wouldn’t hurt.
