With the San Diego Comic-Con officially getting underway today, one of the first big movie trailers to be unveiled had absolutely nothing to do with comic books or superheroes (well, at least not the traditional kind). Tom Cruise made a surprise appearance at the Paramount panel to debut the very first footage from his upcoming Top Gun sequel, Top Gun: Maverick. Before you get too excited though, this is mostly just a teaser with Ed Harris appearing as a commander who is asking Maverick why he hasn’t been promoted to admiral by now. The trailer then proceeds to drop some nostalgia bombs with scenes recalling the previous film and a bit of the Harold Faltermeyer score but it still remains unclear what this sequel will bring to the table. We previously heard that it might involve drone warfare but Cruise is once again hyping up the stuntwork and the fact that all of the aerial footage in the movie is real. Top Gun: Maverick is directed by Joseph Kosinski (Oblivion) and it hits theatres on June 26th, 2020; check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
