Jay & Silent Bob Reboot Red Band Trailer

One of Comic-Con’s most well-known personalities will return to Hall H later this weekend to promote his upcoming movie, Jay & Silent Bob Reboot. But in the meantime Kevin Smith decided to drop a red band trailer early in order to get the jump on everyone else. The story finds Silent Bob and Jay heading back to Hollywood to try and stop a Bluntman and Chronic reboot from getting made, but apparently there is also another twist: Jay finds out he is a dad! The trailer mainly focuses on the usual gags plus a cavalcade of cameos that include Chris Hemsworth, Melissa Benoist, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Val Kilmer, Joe Manganiello, Justin Long, Jason Biggs and James Van Der Beek with Jason Lee, Shannon Elizabeth and Rosario Dawson reprising their Askew-niverse roles as well. Clearly Smith’s sense of humour has not changed over the years, but whether that is charming remains to be seen. Jay & Silent Bob Reboot will hit theatres via roadshow tour starting in October; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Around the Web:

  • Such a shame what happened to Smith. I used to like his films back in the day and now we get Yoga Hosers and garbage like this where he’s forcing his daughter on us.

Fitting how everyone here looks so goddamn old, from Smith and Mewes to Affleck and Damon to Lee. Naturally, Chris Hemsworth is in it, too.

With this and Cats July 18th surely will go down as one of the worst days in trailer history.

Listen to the Film Junk review of Yoga Hosers. Great take on the film and its filmmaker. Just relistened last night actually.

  • I know it. I think the premium offers more insight though.

The guy is on a steady decline since Zack & Miri.

This is going to sound age-ist, because it is, but everyone in this film looks really fucking old and it’s almost uncomfortable to watch. Maybe if the trailer was actually funny I wouldn’t care as much but because the jokes are shit it just makes everyone’s old ass that much more noticeable.

Also, i’m sick of redband trailers, especially for vulgar R-rated comedies because they always end up just spoiling the jokes in the trailer.

I will counter any defense of Kevin Smith with “It’s ok, I fell for it too”.

    oh for fucks sakes

Jay looks so weird now. If it wasn’t for his voice I’d say someone else plays his part. Oh and that trailer did not sell me. At all. Love Smith’s 90s output but man, this is rough. Why couldn’t he have done CLERKS 3 instead???
