Although the last few weekends of the summer are usually a dumping ground for bad movies, occasionally there are some hidden gems that manage to sneak in there as well. Blumhouse has just staked out the final weekend of August for the upcoming film Don’t Let Go, an intriguing little indie thriller with a vaguely science-fiction premise. The movie stars David Oyelowo as a detective who receives a mysterious phone call from his dead niece, seemingly still alive in the past. As they start to work together, they realize that they may be able to rewrite history and stop the murder from happening in the first place. Director Jacob Aaron Estes previously co-wrote the screenplay for Rings and directed The Details and Mean Creek. Don’t Let Go co-stars Storm Reid (A Wrinkle in Time), Byron Mann, Alfred Molina and Brian Tyree Henry and it hits theatres on Aug. 30th. Check out the trailer below and see what you think.
