After winning the Directing Award for World Cinema – Documentary at Sundance, Mads Brügger’s latest film Cold Case Hammarskjöld has continued to build hype on the festival circuit. The movie delves into the 1961 plane crash that killed UN General Secretary Dag Hammarskjöld, which has long been suspected of foul play. Word on the street is that the movie delivers some pretty shocking revelations, although based on Brügger’s reputation as a satirist and prankster (he directed such films as The Red Chapel and The Ambassador) it also appears to be a self-aware send-up of true crime and conspiracy theory docs as well. Cold Case Hammarskjöld hits select theatres on Aug. 16th; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
