Doctor Sleep Trailer: Ewan McGregor Stars in The Shining Sequel

As many people know, Stephen King has never been a fan of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. In a somewhat ironic twist, however, Stephen King’s sequel to The Shining is headed to the big screen almost 40 years later and it looks to be filled with homages to Kubrick’s film. Whether that is just a marketing ploy or a key component of the film remains to be seen. Doctor Sleep is based on King’s 2013 novel and follows an adult Danny Torrance as he crosses paths with a teenage girl who also has the same gift as him and is “desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot.” Danny is also plagued by visions of his past, which seems like a great excuse to revisit all of the iconic imagery from Kubrick’s The Shining. The movie is directed by Mike Flanagan, who previously adapted Gerald’s Game for Netflix, and it stars Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson and Kyliegh Curran. Doctor Sleep hits theatres on Nov. 8th; check out the first trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
