Quentin Tarantino Developing a Django / Zorro Movie

With his ninth movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood now less than two months away, we are getting some interesting news about another project that Quentin Tarantino may have in development. There is a report that he is working on a Django / Zorro movie based on the comic book series of the same name, written by Matt Wagner and Tarantino himself. Whether this could become his tenth (and potentially final) movie as a director seems unlikely, but he may be more involved than you think. Hit the jump for more details.
According to Collider, Quentin Tarantino is developing a Django / Zorro movie with Jerrod Carmichael (The Carmichael Show) on board as a writer. The project was first revealed after emails between Tarantino and Sony chief Amy Pascal leaked during the Sony hack in 2014 but it was unclear if anything would ever come of it. Now we are hearing that the movie is real although we don’t know if Sony is involved or if Tarantino is co-writing the script with Carmichael.
The comic was first published by Dynamite Entertainment back in 2014 and is a sequel to Django Unchained. The plot finds Django crossing paths with Diego de la Vega aka Zorro and accompanying him on a mission to free local indigenous people from the Archduke of Arizona. It doesn’t seem like the kind of movie that Tarantino would end his career on, but it could indicate the kind of thing he might take on as a producer, moving forward. Jerrod Carmichael is also co-writing the 48 Hrs. remake with the Safdie Brothers. Are you interested in a Django / Zorro movie?
