New to Theatres This Weekend: Aladdin, Booksmart, Brightburn

The post-Endgame lull is over as major blockbusters start to pick up again this weekend with the release of Disney’s live-action remake of Aladdin. Although it has some negative buzz and mixed reviews to overcome, the Will Smith vehicle is still looking at an $70+ million debut. Other major releases hitting theatres include the James Gunn-produced superhero horror flick Brightburn and Olivia Wilde’s R-rated female-led comedy Booksmart, both of which have the potential to surprise. In select theatres, look for the romantic drama The Tomorrow Man starring John Lithgow and Blythe Danner and the well-received dramedy Funny Story, directed by former YouTube filmmaker Michael J. Gallagher. In the meantime, Avengers: Endgame will continue its slow pursuit of Avatar‘s worldwide box office record. What will you be watching this weekend?
