Although Netflix didn’t throw around a ton of money at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, one of the acquisitions they did make was a sci-fi thriller called I Am Mother. From first-time director Grant Sputore, the story takes place in a future world where humans are extinct and a new generation of children are being raised by robots to repopulate the Earth. This is a contained thriller about a young woman is living in isolation with a robot caregiver who is forced to question all that she knows when an injured stranger suddenly arrives. Hilary Swank stars alongside newcomer Clara Rugaard with Rose Byrne voicing the robot (WETA provided the visual effects). I Am Mother arrives on Netflix on June 6th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
