Hey remember McG? After directing Terminator Salvation back in 2009 he kind of dropped off the radar for a while, helming a few forgettable films but mostly producing a lot of TV stuff. Then a couple of years ago he directed a horror comedy called The Babysitter which was acquired by Netflix and seemed to do well for them. So much so that his next movie is also debuting on Netflix with a trailer proclaiming it to be “from the director of The Babysitter” (with no actual mention of his name). It appears to be a somewhat unremarkable Stranger Things-influenced genre flick about a group of teenagers at summer camp who face an alien invasion. The premise certainly has potential but it seems to lack personality for whatever reason. Rim of the World arrives on Netflix on May 24th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
