Shirley Jackson’s novel The Haunting of Hill House has been brought to the screen several times over the past few decades (most recently by Mike Flanagan as a Netflix series) and her short story The Lottery has also received multiple adaptations. This year, however, one of Jackson’s other best known works is coming to the big screen for the first time. We Have Always Lived in the Castle revolves around two sisters who live in isolation with their uncle on an estate after a family tragedy, only to have a cousin arrive with plans to steal the family fortune. Directed by Stacie Passon (Concussion), the movie stars Alexandra Daddario, Taissa Farmiga, Sebastian Stan and Crispin Glover. We Have Always Lived in the Castle hits select theatres and VOD on May 17th; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
