Playmobil: The Movie Trailer

playmobilmovie

After the box office disappointment of The Lego Movie 2, it seems like Warner Brothers may have shot themselves in the foot by watering down the toy-based movie franchise with too many spin-offs too soon. But if the Lego movies are already starting to wane, that’s probably not good news for the upcoming Playmobil: The Movie, which looks like a generic low budget knockoff of the same idea (not unlike the toys, I suppose). The movie revolves around a human brother and sister who get pulled into a world populated by Playmobil characters from a multitude of genres and playsets. Featuring the voices Anya Taylor-Joy, Jim Gaffigan, Gabriel Bateman, Adam Lambert, Kenan Thompson, Meghan Trainor and Daniel Radcliffe, this looks to cover some very familiar territory but with a lot less style and panache. Playmobil: The Movie hits theatres on Aug. 9th in the U.K. and Aug. 16th in North America; check out the trailer below and see what you think.

This is seriously the first I have heard of this movie! My kids never took to play mobile at all. But they love lego and the lego movies. It will be curious to see how well this does…

I’m sure this will be highly entertaining to the five people that grew up playing with Playmobil toys.
