After the success of Bird Box, Netflix is about to release another movie that seems even more similar to John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place. But before you go accusing them of completely ripping it off, it’s worth noting that this is based on a novel by Tim Lebbon which came out a couple of years before A Quiet Place. Hmm. Here’s the plot synopsis: “When the world is under attack from terrifying creatures who hunt their human prey by sound, 16-year old Ally Andrews (Kiernan Shipka), who lost her hearing at 13, and her family seek refuge in a remote haven.” The movie is directed by John R. Leonetti (Annabelle) and also stars Stanley Tucci, Miranda Otto, John Corbett. The Silence arrives on Netflix on Apr. 10th; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

I don’t wish to be that guy but Bird Box was also based on a novel (2015). I imagine it’s more a case of our cultural and political times imagining the end of days, and film studios having an Armageddon/Deep Impact/ Dante’s Peak/Volcano moment
