Well it may seem like a joke, but believe it or not Paramount is turning the preschool animated series Dora the Explorer into a teen-oriented action-adventure movie franchise. I am still not sure who this is supposed to appeal to, but I guess at the end of the day, name recognition is all that matters. Dora and the Lost City of Gold stars Isabela Moner (Instant Family) in the lead role with a Latinx supporting cast that includes Michael Pena, Eva Longoria, Eugenio Derbez and Jeffrey Wahlberg. Despite the fact that this is a more grown up live-action movie, Boots and Swiper apparently still make appearances (voiced by Danny Trejo and Benicio del Toro… no seriously). Dora and the Lost City of Gold is directed by James Bobin (The Muppets, Alice: Through the Looking Glass) and hits theatres on Aug. 2nd; check out the trailer below and see what you think.
