It’s been about a year and a half since Christopher Nolan’s last film, the Oscar-nominated Dunkirk, hit theatres and since then he has remained mostly quiet, taking some time to present a new 70mm print of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Back in January, however, Warner Brothers set a July 17, 2020 release date for his next movie and now things are finally starting to gear up. In particular, we’ve got three big casting announcements this week but the big question on everyone’s mind is… what will the movie be about? Hit the jump to find out what we know.

According to Variety, John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman) will star in Christopher Nolan’s next movie with Robert Pattinson also co-headlining the film. Collider first reported on Pattinson’s involvement and mentioned that there would also be an “age-appropriate female lead, as well as an older male co-star.” We now know that Elizabeth Debicki (Widows) has landed that female lead role as well.

Washington and Debicki are both up and coming stars while Pattinson has been entering an interesting new phase of his career after performances in movies like The Lost City of Z, Good Time and High Life. As for the movie’s plot, that is being kept under wraps although a now-debunked rumour came out earlier this month describing it as “North by Northwest meets Inception.” All we really know is that it will be an event film shot once again with IMAX cameras, although one inside source claims it is another “massive action blockbuster.” What do you think of the initial cast for Christopher Nolan’s next film?
