Monday Morning Box Office Report: Captain Marvel Continues to Soar

Captain Marvel continued to dominate the box office in its second weekend, absorbing another $69.3 million domestically and $119.7 million overseas. The movie has already earned $760 million worldwide and should pass Guardians of the Galaxy this week to become the tenth highest grossing MCU film worldwide. Nothing else came close this weekend with the animated film Wonder Park debuting in second place with $16 million and YA romance Five Feet Apart exceeding expectations to open in third with $13.1 million. How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World fell to fourth and A Madea Family Funeral rounded out the top 5. Elsewhere, the Spanish comedy No Manches Frida 2 opened at #6 and scored a solid $3.89 million from just 472 theatres, while Rupert Wyatt’s Captive State tanked, earning just $3.1 million on over 2500.
