One of the biggest sales at this year’s Sundance Film Festival was the film Late Night, which was acquired by Amazon for $13 million in the hopes that it will become a breakout comedy hit in the vein of The Big Sick. Written by and co-starring Mindy Kaling, the movie revolves around a comedy writer who is hired to help revitalize a struggling late night talk show but finds herself clashing with its all-white-male staff. Emma Thompson plays the late night host while the supporting cast also includes John Lithgow, Hugh Dancy, Amy Ryan and Ike Barinholtz. The movie was originally supposed to be directed by Paul Feig, but after some scheduling issues, veteran TV helmer Nisha Ganatra (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, You Me Her) took the reins instead. Late Night hits theatres on June 7th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
