With the recent talk of a Gremlins animated series happening, it seems only appropriate that one of the ’80s franchises accused of ripping off Gremlins is also getting resurrected on the small screen as well. The original Critters was released in 1986 and although it was supposedly in development before Gremlins, it does happen to involve small, furry creatures terrorizing the residents of a small town. The movie spawned three sequels, the last of which was released in 1992, but now decades later we are getting a live-action series courtesy of Shudder and the writer/director team behind Zombeavers and The Drone. If that’s not enough, Syfy also supposedly just wrapped production on a brand new (unrelated) Critters movie. Critters: A New Binge arrives on Shudder on March 21st; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
