Dark Phoenix Trailer #2

With all the controversy surrounding Bryan Singer recently coming to a head, it seems unlikely that he will ever be involved creatively with the X-Men franchise again. Unfortunately, the reins have been taken up by long-time producer, first-time director Simon Kinberg and he definitely feels like a step down as a filmmaker. Despite the fact that they are re-adapting one of the most iconic X-Men stories of all time, it’s hard to get excited for Dark Phoenix. This week Fox has released a new trailer for the movie and aside from Jessica Chastain’s character there is just nothing new here. It doesn’t help that there are persistent rumours that this will be the last time we see this incarnation of the X-Men on screen before Marvel absorbs them into the MCU following Disney’s acquisition of Fox. Will this be the final send-off these characters truly deserve? Dark Phoenix hits theatres on June 7th; check out the new trailer below and let us know what you think.

McAvoy is doing gods work bringing back Picards speech patterns!

McAvoy and Fassbender can literally carry this franchise even without Wolverine.

it looks kinda cheap (mystique’s make-up, that wheelchair), but jessica c. is perfect.

Looks good and I’m looking forward to this since I really like Fox’s handling of the X-Men, the change of directors not withstanding. Not particularly looking forward to them becoming part of the MCU and getting televisualized. I do wish they kept John Ottman for the music, though.
