New to Theatres This Weekend: Alita: Battle Angel, Happy Death Day 2U, Isn’t It Romantic

The first live-action blockbuster of 2019 hits theatres this weekend with Robert Rodriguez and James Cameron’s sci-fi manga adaptation Alita: Battle Angel, although in this case it is also poised to become the year’s first major flop. The movie cost over $170 million to make and is expected to earn just $30 million over President’s Day weekend, but international markets should ultimately help Fox’s bottom line. Also hitting theatres we have the Blumhouse sequel Happy Death Day 2U, the WWE wrestling biopic Fighting with My Family, and the rom-com parody Isn’t It Romantic starring Rebel Wilson. In select theatres, we also have the bleak crime drama Donnybrook starring Jamie Bell and Frank Grillo and the Colombian drug war epic Birds of Passage from the director and producer of Embrace of the Serpent. What will you be watching this weekend?
