In addition to Glass, Happy Death Day 2U and Us, the next genre flick on Blumhouse’s release calendar this year comes from an unlikely source. Director Tate Taylor is best known for directing the Oscar-nominated film The Help, but now he is reteaming with Octavia Spencer for a psychological thriller that has a rather strange concept. Spencer plays a lonely, unassuming woman who befriends some teenagers, agrees to buy booze for them and allows them to use her house for parties. Before they know it, however, she is getting a lot more involved in their lives and seems to be hiding a dark secret. I am certainly curious to see where this one goes and at the very least you’ve gotta give Blumhouse credit for taking a chance on stuff like this. Ma hits theatres on May 31st; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
