The Hustle Trailer: A Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Remake Starring Rebel Wilson and Anne Hathaway

Ocean’s 8 was a decent hit for Warner Brothers last summer and now this year MGM is hoping to recapture some of that same audience with their female-led crime comedy The Hustle, a loose remake of the 1988 film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. While the original starred Steve Martin and Michael Caine as two con men holding a contest to swindle a young heiress out of her fortune, this new version stars Rebel Wilson and Anne Hathaway as two con artists who team up to get revenge on the “dirty rotten men who have wronged them.” Directed by Chris Addison (Veep) from a screenplay by Jac Schaeffer (TiMER), the movie originally received an R-rating on its initial submission to the MPAA but was knocked down to PG-13 after an appeal. The Hustle hits theatres on May 10th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

I liked this idea when it was called Heartbreakers

Hmmm, that “loose remake” sure looks like an almost beat-for-beat remake.
    Probably worth a rental, though.

Apparently the writers of the original screenplay are also getting full screenplay credit here so maybe it is a lot closer than I thought.

  • Lori Cerny

I keep hoping the right project will come along for Rebel Wilson – she’s very likeable.

  • Lol. that Jennifer Love Hewitt tho…

  • Just received my Shout Factory release of DRS a month or so ago and rewatched. The movie holds up pretty well. I’m interested to see how this turns out.

Serious missed opportunity at not casting Ian McDiarmid as the butler again.
