After three weekends at the top of the box office, Aquaman finally relinquished the throne over the weekend although the folks at Warner Brothers were probably too busy celebrating to notice. The movie has now hit $1 billion worldwide, becoming the first DCEU movie to do so and trailing behind only The Dark Knight Rises in terms of biggest DC adaptations. However, it was The Upside that came away a surprise winner this weekend, debuting with an impressive $19.6 million and proving once again that Kevin Hart should not be underestimated. A Dog’s Way Home opened in third place with $11.3 million, significantly less than A Dog’s Purpose made last year. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Escape Room rounded out the top 5. Elsewhere, On the Basis of Sex jumped into the top 10 after a significant expansion while the Keanu Reeves sci-fi flick Replicas opened way down in 12th place with a dreadful $2.5 million.
