Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle Trailer

Following up on the big announcement from a few months ago that Netflix had acquired Andy Serkis’ Mowgli from Warner Brothers, the streaming giant has finally set a release date for the live-action / CG hybrid movie. Although initial reports indicated it wouldn’t arrive until 2019, they are instead opting for a high-profile December 2018 release along with a limited theatrical run. They have also given it a new title (Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle) and released a brand new trailer. Despite all the talk of this being a darker and more mature take on the source material, it does still look a lot like Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book… go figure. Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle hits select theatres on Nov. 29th and arrives on Netflix globally on Dec. 7th; check out the new trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Not digging it. It’s cool they aren’t just doing the Jungle Book story I guess, but now it just feels like it’s an Asylum ripoff.
