There was an overabundance of movies about female musicians at TIFF this year and one of the most talked about ones was Brady Corbet’s Vox Lux. The movie examines the career of a fictional pop star (played by Natalie Portman) who survived a school shooting tragedy as a teenager and is now mounting a comeback decades later. NEON acquired the film at the festival and plan to give it a big Oscar push this year, not unlike what they did for I, Tonya last year. Watching the trailer, it’s still hard to get a sense of what this movie is about, but it does feature some interesting imagery, original music by Sia and a score by Scott Walker. Vox Lux co-stars Jude Law and Raffey Cassidy and hits select theatres on Dec. 7th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
