With Halloween still expected to dominate multiplexes in its second weekend, it is not a particularly exciting week for new releases… or at least not the major ones anyway. The only new movie getting a full-fledged wide release is the Gerard Butler submarine thriller Hunter Killer, which feels like something that should be coming out in January rather than October. Other new releases playing on over 500 screens include the faith-based drama Indivisible and the Rowan Atkinson sequel Johnny English Strikes Again. Fortunately, in select theatres there are quite a few things potentially worth seeking out including Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria remake, the Korean thriller Burning, and the twisted Swedish-Danish supernatural thriller Border, not to mention Frederick Wiseman’s latest documentary Monrovia, Indiana and a 4K re-release of John Carpenter’s The Fog. What will you be watching this weekend?
