Aquaman NYCC Extended Trailer

Attendees at New York Comic Con over the weekend got a first look at a handful of upcoming TV shows and movies including the new Hellboy, and although that trailer hasn’t been released online (yet), Warner Brothers did drop a brand new trailer for James Wan’s Aquaman. It is a pretty lengthy one (five minutes to be exact), offering up a much better sense of the movie’s tone while showcasing an impressive chase sequence and somewhat unique sci-fi / fantasy visuals. It also features a better look at Black Manta and even a glimpse of Jason Momoa in the classic Aquaman colours, which is a bit of a surprise. Aquaman co-stars Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Djimon Hounsou and Dolph Lundgren and it hits theatres on Dec. 21st. Check out the new trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

  • Not a fan of the visuals, especially Black Manta sticks out. Also, Momoa’s whole “oh yeah”-shtick gets on your nerves (although I did like the pee joke).

UMMM not a James Wan fan and after this trailer still not.

Not sure what to make of this. Is AQM really a big draw? A B character made into a A character? Same as what Marvel did with Iron Man?

At least with Iron Man it was the robo tech that always attracted me so that was plus on seeing the character on screen.

AQM? What’s so interesting? The Mythology? The side Characters? The Villains? AQM’s powers? The Ocean? The Fish? What’s the main draw?

    This trailer gave me crabs.

Aqua Man feels like a character you have to have in your comics universe but it really isn’t that compelling. Marvel has The Submariner, which is more or less the same thing. Eventually somebody was going to invent the “superhero from the sea”, it’s just there waiting to be written. It’s just never been remotely interesting.

This trailer is giving me major “Little Mermaid” vibes. Red haired girl, trident, guy with flowing long white hair holding the trident, harnessed fish like chariots…
