Following up on last week’s trailer for Dark Phoenix, there was a big release schedule shake-up that happened at 20th Century Fox as well. The studio announced that several of their major tentpoles were being pushed back by a few months (including Dark Phoenix) but oddly enough, the movie they seem to be making room for is one that we did not expect. A new movie called simply “Untitled Deadpool Movie” has appeared on their schedule for Dec. 21st, and while the details are still unclear, rumours are swirling that it will be a PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2. Ryan Reynolds seemed to confirm this with this recent photo posted on his Instagram account:
Clearly it is a reference to The Princess Bride, although we don’t know if the new version of the movie will actually include a new framed narrative like this. We also don’t know if the PG-13 thing will be played as a joke or if it will simply be a slightly edited version of the movie attempting to bring it to wider audience. Other release date changes include Alita: Battle Angel moving from Dec. 21st to Feb. 14th, Dark Phoenix shifting from Feb. 14th to June 7th, and Gambit getting moved from that date all the way back to March 13th, 2020. Would you watch a brand new cut of Deadpool 2 or are you all Deadpooled out at this point?
