The Haunting of Hill House Trailer: Mike Flanagan and Netflix Retell a Classic Ghost Story

Shirley Jackson’s 1959 novel The Haunting of Hill House has been adapted for the big screen twice before, both times under the title The Haunting. This year director Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Ouija: Origin of Evil) is adapting the story yet again, but the difference is that he is teaming up with Netflix to expand it into a 10-episode series instead. The show takes the title of the original novel and updates it to a contemporary setting, following a group of five siblings who grew up in the house and are forced as adults to confront their past and once again face its horrors. The cast includes Carla Gugino (who also starred in Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game), Michiel Huisman, Henry Thomas, Kate Siegel, Timothy Hutton, Elizabeth Reaser, Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Mckenna Grace and it is coming to Netflix just in time for Halloween. The Haunting of Hill House arrives on Oct. 12th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
