Apostle Trailer Starring Dan Stevens: From the Director of The Raid

If you were expecting Gareth Evans’ follow-up to The Raid and The Raid 2 to be another bone-crushing martial arts flick, you might be a little surprised by the first trailer for Apostle. There is still plenty of bone-crushing involved, but the movie seems to fit more comfortably into the horror genre and the October release date is clearly no coincidence. This is a period piece that takes place in 1905 with Dan Stevens (The Guest, Downton Abbey) playing a man determined to rescue his sister from a religious cult on a remote island. If Gareth Evans’ V/H/S 2 segment, “Safe Haven”, is anything to go by, we are all in for a pretty disturbing ride. Apostle hits Netflix on Oct. 12th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

    Give it to me.

Though I would’ve preferred The Raid 3, this looks pretty sick.

  • Lori Cerny

    Hear! Hear!

Dan Stevens is surprising, to me. I can only think of him as the milquetoast-y character in Downton Abbey.
