After helming a remake of The Gambler back in 2014, Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt is returning to science-fiction with his next film, Captive State, which appears to be a political allegory in the vein of District 9 and The Purge. The first teaser trailer introduces us to a dystopian future where crime and poverty have been eliminated thanks to the occupation of Earth by an extraterrestrial force. Not much else is revealed in terms of plot, but it looks intriguing even if it feels a little familiar at this point. With a cast that includes John Goodman, Vera Farmiga, Ashton Sanders, Alan Ruck and Machine Gun Kelly, the movie was co-written by Erica Beeney (The Battle of Shaker Heights). Captive State hits theatres on March 29th; check out the first trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
