Henry Cavill Reportedly Done Playing Superman in the DC Universe

We’ve been hearing rumours for quite a while now that Ben Affleck may be done playing Batman on the big screen but up until now they have remained exactly that… just rumours. While we still have no update on that particular situation, this week we are hearing that the Justice League has actually lost another key member. After playing Superman in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, it looks as though Henry Cavill is officially stepping away from the DCEU for good. Hit the jump for more details.
According to THR, Warner Brothers had been trying to arrange a Superman cameo in their upcoming film Shazam!, which hits theatres on April 5. Unfortunately, negotiations for the cameo broke down and have essentially led to both sides walking away for good. Although some sources have said the talks broke down because of scheduling issues, it seems like Warners are eager to take the DCEU in a new direction anyway.
In particular, they already announced plans for a Supergirl movie just last month. Perhaps they are hoping that she will take Superman’s place in the Justice League line-up, but it remains unclear if they are planning to replace any of the other existing members. Something tells me that a lot is riding on James Wan’s Aquaman, although I seriously doubt they will replace Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman anytime soon. Are you disappointed by Henry Cavill’s potential departure or do you think this is the best decision for everyone involved?
